This position is full-time and will work 40 hours per week between the hours of 7am - 6pm, Monday through Friday. Flexibility of the successful applicant’s personal schedule is required to ensure staff and area needs are met.
Reporting to the Assistant Program Director, the Early Childhood Educator will:

Maintain an awareness of changing emotional, social and physical states of children and to provide appropriate support

Communicate with families about their child’s learning and growth and development, encourage families to share information about their children

Assist in creating a safe and inviting physical environment including an ongoing evaluation and restructuring of the playroom
-
Prepares and maintains the indoor and outdoor play areas for children’s use, including checking toys and equipment to ensure safe functioning and performing various housekeeping and sanitizing duties as required

Participates in lunch, diapering, bathroom and toilet training duties and promotes healthy and independent practices
-
Respond appropriately to parent’s request including referring to the correct staff, providing documentation, and acting in a respectful manner

Assist in providing a positive learning experience for children by acting as a positive role model

Act as a resource person to the children and facilitate the development of children

Willingly perform duties (as applicable to the job), in a timely fashion when assigned by the Director

Be responsible for keeping track of hours in an orderly manner

Know the policies and procedures surrounding the daycare facility and to implement them consistently
-
Communicate openly with families on a daily basis about their child’s learning and growth and development and encourage families to share information about their children
Requirements
-
Early Childhood Educator – Level 2 Certification
-
Current Standard First Aid and Infant Child CPR
-
Current Criminal Check & Vulnerable Sector Screening
-
Montessori diploma (required)
-
Ability to communicate with parents effectively and professionally
-
Experience with lesson planning and development
-
Ability to multi-task and function in an ever-changing environment
